Welcome to my portfolio website. I'm Joe Coppola, a software engineer and engineering leader with a passion for scalable software, AI-driven applications, and developer productivity. Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, my interest in technology was sparked early on, inspired by classic video games and interactive experiences.
I pursued my passion at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), earning a Bachelor of Science in Game Design and Development in May 2016. During my time at RIT, I served as Lead UI/UX Developer on Hack Slash and Backstab, a game that launched on Xbox One, Steam, and the Humble Store in August 2016.
After graduation, I began my career as a 3D Creative Software Developer at IBM Watson in Austin, Texas, working with Unity to develop AI-driven visualization tools. In November 2016, I transitioned to Faceware Technologies as a Software Engineer, contributing to real-time face tracking software and enterprise applications. Following several years at Faceware, I joined HIA AI as a Senior Software Engineer and later Engineering Manager, leading a global team in building AI-integrated video technology.
Currently, I am a Lead Software Engineer at Ikin Inc, where I focus on fullstack development, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure, driving technical strategy and optimizing engineering workflows. With experience spanning game development, AI-driven applications, cloud platforms, and developer tooling, I am committed to building efficient, scalable software that enhances both user experiences and developer productivity.
